How to Maintain AGV Lithium Batteries?

Keep These 5 Points in Mind

As hot weather approaches,

how can you ensure AGV lithium batteries

remain in a safe state

under high temperatures?

Control the working environment temperature

The ideal operating temperature for lithium batteries is typically between 20°C and 30°C. When ambient temperatures exceed 40°C, internal chemical reactions accelerate, potentially leading to issues such as accelerated capacity degradation and increased internal resistance. It is recommended to operate AGVs in cool, well-ventilated environments whenever possible and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Avoid charging in high-temperature environments.

When charging during summer, if the battery itself is already warm, charging immediately will cause the battery to heat up further, reducing charging efficiency. It is recommended to let the AGV cart rest for 10 to 15 minutes before charging, allowing the battery to cool down first. Choose cooler times for charging, such as early morning or nighttime.

Plan charging and discharging strategies appropriately.

Leaving lithium batteries in a low-charge state for extended periods can shorten their lifespan. It is recommended to avoid complete discharge and recharge when the remaining charge is between 30% and 40%. If the AGV is not in use for an extended period, it is advisable to store it with the battery charge maintained between 50% and 60%, and to periodically check the battery health status.

Periodically check the battery status.

Dusty and humid summer conditions can easily cause dust accumulation or moisture buildup in the battery compartment. It is recommended to inspect the battery's appearance monthly to ensure there is no swelling, leakage, or other abnormalities. Simultaneously, clean dust from the battery compartment, maintain good ventilation, and check whether the electrode contacts are oxidized.

Precautions for Long-Term Storage

If AGV equipment needs to be idle for extended periods, improper storage methods may damage the battery. It is recommended to charge the battery to 50%–60% capacity before storage, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and check the charge level every 2–3 months.

As the “heart” of intelligent logistics, AGV lithium batteries directly impact equipment efficiency and lifespan. Proper maintenance during hot summers effectively extends battery life, enhances device stability, and ensures production safety.
